"Last year, 99pc of television in Britain was consumed through broadcast television, not through the internet.

That's going to change quite slowly." For Howling, the point of Freeview's marketing spend is to get one message across, using a new slogan: buy now, watch today, free forever.

For ITV, that figure is around three hours; for Channel 4, two hours. "And for Freeview viewers, that isn't necessarily the top thing that they would want." Another thing that Howling would love is BSky B's marketing budget, which dwarfs her own.

BSky B, says Howling, has a different viewpoint, and sees Freeview as a "nursery slope" for people coming into digital. Nonetheless, Freeview's spend on promoting digital terrestrial television increased from £4m in 2008 to nearly £10m in 2009, and is understood to be heading for £20m in the current financial year.

Howling also plans to introduce 3D channels to Freeview in the next few years.Humax has unveiled its first ever home security product in the form of camera you can use with your set-top box. Tired of cornering the Freeview box market, Humax has decided to dally with home security and the result is the Humax Eye, which was quietly announced today (August 25).The camera looks like a clone of the excellent Y-Cam Evo, which is obviously no bad thing.65" Ultra HD 4K Pro HDR Television featuring Master HDR OLED Display, New Studio Colour HCX Processor for superior colour accuracy, Multiple HDR format support and Technics tuned Dynamic Blade Speaker.Coming in Spring 2018 55" Ultra HD 4K Pro HDR Television featuring Master HDR OLED Display, New Studio Colour HCX Processor for superior colour accuracy, Multiple HDR format support and Technics tuned Dynamic Blade Speaker.Coming in Spring 2018 65" Ultra HD 4K Pro HDR Television featuring Master HDR OLED Display, New Studio Colour HCX Processor for superior colour accuracy and Multiple HDR format support with Dynamic Scene Optimiser.Coming in Spring 2018 55" Ultra HD 4K Pro HDR Television featuring Master HDR OLED Display, New Studio Colour HCX Processor for superior colour accuracy and Multiple HDR format support with Dynamic Scene Optimiser.Coming in Spring 2018 77" Ultra HD 4K Pro HDR "Prosumer" Television featuring THX Certified Master OLED Display (with Absolute Black Filter), Studio Colour HCX² Processor for superior colour accuracy, Twin Terrestrial & Satellite Tuner and Freeview Play. Also featuring professional functionalities such as loadable 3D LUTs.As Howling eyes more than 300,000 Sky HD subscribers as potential converts to Freeview, BSky B may perceive a threat – an odd position, given BSky B's shareholding in Freeview and its reliance on its own HD product to drive dish sales. But, says Howling, she didn't seek approval from BSky B to take that position, and nor has BSky B criticised her for it.
